Have you seen birds?

We are having a great time learning to identify birds by sight and sound!  Your children are awesome!  I hope you are enjoying their interest and excitement about birds, too.  Their daily stories about birds they have spied are so amazing!

Looking ahead -
The kindergarten classes will be performing seasonal songs and poems on Thursday, June 12th  at 7:00 PM in the DeSales gym. I hope that you will join us!
We will be going to the Buffalo Zoo on Wednesday, June 18th.  Details concerning the field trip will be sent home in June.

This Wednesday, May 21st, we will be attending Mass for the May Crowning.  Your children have been learning the Mysteries of the Rosary and praying the Rosary every day.  We have learned three songs to honor Mary and we are excited to be able to join in at Mass.  They have the voices of angels!

April News

Happy Spring!  Yesterday we went for our first walk looking for signs of spring.  We didn't see any flowers waking up but we saw so many birds -   male cardinals, robins, house sparrows, crows, a downy woodpecker and a little tree filled with cedar waxwings eating berries.  I believe I even heard a pileated woodpecker but we couldn't find it! It was so exciting to see their interest and curiosity rewarded.  We have begun learning our bird calls and songs so that we can identify the birds by sound and sight.  I hope you enjoy this activity as much as we do!!

Happy New Year!

January looks to be a very busy month!
We will begin addition in Math - always an exciting time!
In reading we will continue to learn new high frequency words and practice blending sounds together to read other words.  We are using our knowledge of letters and sounds to spell words.  In our writing we will be using nouns, verbs and adjectives.
On Monday, January 20th, there will be no school in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.
We will celebrate the Feast of St. Francis DeSales at Mass on January 24th.
The last week of January is Catholic Schools Week.  Many fun activities are being planned and a letter will be sent home regarding them.
Have a great month!  Stay warm!
